Yeardley has mentioned that her voice has pretty much sounded the same since she was 6. Maybe it's just a bit higher pitched, but that's all.

Yeardley also has the advantage of not having to do voices like Nelson's. Which, like Marge, probably gets rough on the throat when he's a major character. It's kinda weird though that he didn't really start out like that.

even in his old age in the 1980s, Mel Blanc could reproduce most of his voices well. His throat was just better on some days he was recording than others. The ones that gave him trouble by then were the "yelling" ones like Yosemite Sam and Foghorn Leghorn. Something similar is happening for Nancy and Julie with harsher, gruffer characters like Nelson and Marge. It helps if a voice actress that is voicing a young boy can at least try to sound masculine - Astroboy in the cartoon series repeated on the ABC when i was a kid in the eighties always sounded incredibly girlish.

After the most recent episode I thought of another opinion that could be controversial to some (even if they don't like either episode):

Beware My Cheating Bart is the better "Bart crushes on someone who's older" episode than My Octopus and a Teacher, potentially Unfortunate Implications and all!

Voice actors have different vocal capabilities that may not last forever and their voice may sound different or even falter as they get older, with Julie Kavner being a prime example of the latter. Not everyone is a Mel Blanc so it is an unfair comparison.

I miss the 2000’s when Simpsons fans were much more positive and optimistic and much more ignorant and oblivious about the quality of the newer Simpsons episodes and I miss the days when Seasons 14-19 of the show were brand new.

Oh the thread already got bumped? That's good.

Anyway, might be a hot take but some characters just don't need episodes... yet.

As in some should be an episode is the wrong way to start it. I think it's mostly because of the nature of plots. It has to be resolved by the end. Like Sarah Wiggum's thing with the jewel heists. It's in the plot so, it has to be resolved but then... what next? Or Cletus becoming a country star or whatever it was, he's gonna go back by the end so... so what?

I think the reason why some like Nelson stuck is that it didn't start with a plot but with little moments that already established things about him, and eps like Sleeping With The Enemy and Haw-Hawed Couple later being based off that. Bart the Lover is an exception too because most of the stuff about Krabappel were details that either weren't absolutely vital parts of the plot or at least, not resolved by the end. Her depression and loneliness stuck and that's what kept her compelling.

I hate "The Crepes of Wrath" because Bart was forced to drink wine with antifreeze, and Bart, for some reason, didn't get killed, as antifreeze is toxic... This episode wouldn't be made today, as the antifreeze drinking will most likely be considered CANCEL CULTURE! Also, "Dancin' Homer" is not a boring episode, and it deserves to be more entertaining and underrated.

My least favorite episode is I dohbot because of all the cats dying. I don't find any humor in that kind of black comedy, I think it's just cruel.

I agree what could have been a great episode whose main plot strongly resembles Season 3's 'Saturday's of Thundaer' is ruined by the mean-spirited subplot. Sure the show has its darker moments such as 'Simpsons Roasting Over An Open Fire' (an episode I really like) mentions Snowball I dying but it doesn't show it.

I get that. I mean I do usually find something that doesn't actually work about them but there are some eps that hit that one button. Like in Lisa Simpsons This Isn't Your Life where that one woman killed her rabbit because it "stopped being cute"... just ugh. I think it was that ep anyway.

I wouldn't mind if Billy West replaced Phil Hartman as Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz.
A replacement would not be the same... We all know that these characters would not be the same without Phil Hartman but who cares? That's just your opinion...

How would the characters be different if someone who could replicate their voices took over? It wouldn't be any different from Billy West replacing Mel Blanc as Bugs Bunny and the rest of The Looney Tunes.

Well, don't care much for the music but otherwise yeah, it's actually a pretty cute intro...

Honestly, I think as great as Troy and Hutz were... it's a little late to re-insert them into the series, they've been gone so long. It'd just be weird. At the very least though, they kinda live on through Zapp Brannigan, who was originally supposed to be played by Phil and Billy West comes very close to his voice. He's even kinda like if Lionel was a space captain, just more of an asshole.

I like the Lisa's subplot of 'Boyz N the Highlands' and even her tantrum in 'Lisa's Belly', I prefer Selman's portrayal of Lisa of over Jeans, she acts a lot more like a kid and doesn't takeover at least not to the same extent as she does in Jean episodes.

I don't like the way people like to ship Maggie Simpson (The Simpsons) with Stewie Griffin (Family Guy). Maggie is a kind and caring and decent child, Stewie is a repulsive creep and i hate it when people have Maggie falls into his hands when they *know* he trapped young Olivia in a fire and left her to die.

I think Maggie should just talk already. Not become a blabbermouth, but saying the occasional baby thing isnt a big deal. A lot of status quo things I feel are only still a thing because they were a thing for so long. but absolutely do not need to stay that way. On that note, a few of the things they learned during the series shuld have stuck, Maggie knowing sign language and Lisa knowing gymnastics are just things that come to mind.

I not only dislike 'Holidays of Future Passed', but I think it's so depressing for almost every character aside from the Simpson family, that I don't want it to count as canon.
If you find  this version of the future depressing, the one we see in Days Of Future Future will make you break down in tears and weep.

I'm more positive than most, but while I do think a lot of episodes are mediocre or even bad, Days of Future Future is the only episode of this show I've seen (at least so far) that I can say I truly hate.
