The NHC Top Television Shows List (2015)

similar to what we've done before, just post a list of your top twenty favourite shows of all time. these submissions will be compiled into a 'definitive' list of the board's favourites. i am not sure how many different shows will be nominated (and how many points they will receive), so i hesitate to put a 'top 25', 'top 50', or 'top 100' label on this just yet. the deadline to submit a list is august 1st, 2015, over a full month from now.

feel free to include any and all kinds of television programming in your list, such as cartoons, sitcoms, dramas, talk shows, game shows, reality show, miniseries, etc. they will all be accepted. if you select a show that has multiple 'versions' (eg. the uk and us versions of the office, the 60s and 90s versions of the outer limits), please specify which version you have selected to avoid confusion.

there always seems to be a great deal of confusion in regards to list orders. for this endeavour, please put your favourite show of all time in the #1 spot and your twentieth favourite show in the #20 spot. i will be using a simple points-based system: your #1 pick will be awarded 20 points, your #2 pick will get 19 points, and so on. even though this is a relatively small list (forcing you to be pretty selective), you do not need to fill all twenty spaces. leave some empty if you like. here is a blank template you can copy and paste for your list:

I can't say I'm completely satisfied with mine. I need to watch alot more television, some of which from other people's lists already intrigue me. I can actually name 10 shows right off the bat that are in my sights to watch next. for now, here's my list which is subject for shuffling, especially since the shield is just there as a place-holder until I've finished the show completely which will be done well before august.

It makes me so happy to hear that! there's so much to love about the series like the extensive wealth of compelling characters, its emotional depth, the intelligent social/political commentary, etc. plus the show is just plain hilarious to me.

but also mad men constantly treads on this strange, unnerving mood that helps give the show so much of its tension. I feel it whenever I look at any image from the show, but I especially feel it's captured well in my avatar or even my last avatar of bob benson so I'm glad it sparked your interest.

the only twilight zone ep i've seen is the one starring david wayne and directed by mitchell leisen. it was alright

all the hitchcock presents episodes directed by hitchcock are incredible, too good for a tv list! also i haven't watched any of the non-hitchcock ones

I just finished the shield. holy shit! top 20 lists are tough, but I definitely have to move the shield up a few notches. I'll have to stew with my own opinions but I can see the possibility of the shield surpassing breaking bad in terms of what I consider a greater overall drama. maybe not for my list since I'd like to be further familiar with the show in time and i'm really just chalking my list up as my favorites as of 2015. the shield certainly had a better final season and while I am a passionate fan for BB's charm, performances, strong writing, and the pure cinema of it, there's something about the shield that BB either didn't do or couldn't do. the first couple of seasons are a bit more bumpy than breaking bad's but it really ramps up the further it goes and you really get put through the grinder. all I know is that it's such an awesome show and I'm really glad I watched it. I'll be getting it on dvd as soon as possible.

the next show I'm looking to get balls deep into is six feet under. hopefully the site I use to stream it holds up just as well.
