The Lounge: Now As Active As The UK Lounge

It would be in the lower half of the first eight that aired if I had to rank it. A bit too inconsisent at times relative to the first seven.

for me: 4, 5, 6

everything before and everything after doesn't come close.

It's not that people say it's bad, it just doesn't get mentioned too often. Some people even omit it from the classic era (3-8 for some).

15, 16 and 17 had some good ones. I think if you started watching from the begining you would be more inclined to include 1 and 2 in the classic era because at the time there wasn't anything else to compare it too. Plus there was no other cartoon that seemed like you were watching a contemporary sitcom (Cheers, Cosby etc.) It's all just a matter of perspective.

EDIT: sorry, I included 15, but from 10 on just seems like a blur to me. All of the episodes just run together in a mass of mediocrity.

yeah but in terms of high quality jokes, you can't include season one.

The first episode I saw was the original airing of "There's No Disgrace Like Home" and contrary to Jerkass Homer's response the shock therapy scene had me on the floor laughing my ass off. I then knew this would be one of the great TV shows.

yeah everything's better when you see it happen. what about looking back on it now.

This scene was actually played in Die Hard 2!

Still a great episode, season 1 get's a lot of undeserved flack. Yeah the animation is off but what animated show's first season didn't have slightly off animation? The Simpsons was a product of it's competition (again Cheers, Cosby etc.) and as that has changed the motivation to stick to a more family based sitcom has fallen by the wayside.

Simpsons? In my Free for all?

It's more likely than you think.

yeah it's a great season, but not hilarious. now hold the phone here The_Thompsons, i have absolutely nothing against the animation. in fact i the love the animation of season 1. i love off-model stuff.
