I like Jerkass Apu... I was watching Krusty Gets Busted and I love the part where he's on edge and threatening two children with horrific violence. Not sure if that could've been sustained, especially as he grew into a major-ish character, but it's a nice little quirk

Exactly, today the youngest Vietnam veterans would be in their mid 50's plus in Grade School Confidential we learn Skinner is only 44.

Similarily, Abe and his World War II service may soon have to be dropped if it hasn't been done yet since the youngest WWII veterans at least in America would be around 85 if they did not claim they were a few years older to gain service. However, we have no idea how old Abe is and there are WWII vets that are over 100.

I only remember such a joke from Special Edna. When did they say that in the classic era?

I assume he was referencing Special Edna. It doesn't have to come from the first 8 or so seasons to count despite what you might think...
