Spider-Man (1994-1998)

I agree it aged horribly, but lets not piss all over it: Not all animated shows could repeat the feat that was Batman:TAS. I'll give it props for trying something new with 3D and it's own original depiction of the spider sense. The long story arcs gave the show room to give depth to its characters, especially the villains. Especially Venom. I couldn't hate that guy after how he went out.

Even though I'd read Spiderman comics and watched older series, this was the first time I was made keenly aware of how much of Peter Parker's personal life was in shambles because of his double-life. His relationships with his friends and family were well detailed, even if he was constantly unintentionally letting someone down. I dug his hate/flirt relationship with Felicia/Black Cat but never understood how he could stand someone who was as depressing as Harry, let alone be his best friend.

Come on, I shouldn't even have to defend this show. Find an episode of Iron Man from the same general period and you'll recoil in horror. This was among Marvel's best at the time, and they definitely tried to do something great, even if it was undercut by budget and censorship issues.

Yeah I guess it wasn't always that bad.

But it still kinda was.
 
I've been watching episodes of the '60s Spider-man cartoon series the past few nights and it's way more hilarious then I remember. Seriously I was laughing at every line in some episodes. I kind of want to watch some of the Bakshi episodes and see how I feel about them now.

Been watching through this show recently. On season 5 rn.
I love it, it's definitely not perfect but it's just pure Spidey goodness
8/10 show imo
