The 21st season kicks off in about two weeks and then, we'll get more of these ratings. Love 'em or hate 'em, I'm gonna post them here anyway.

Last season wasn't exactly fantastic, take a look:

21: Coming to Homerica | 5.86 | 2.9/8

Averave: 7.12 | 3.4/9
Last season: 7.7 | 3.6/10 (estimated)

So what do you guys think? Will the trend continue or will The Simpsons be able to pull in about the same ratings?
Well, if you ask me, it's all up to Fox. If they promote the show properly, then yes, the show could even improve. If not, we might be able to get the first episode with less than 4 million viewers this year.

Just for those of you who don't know it: The overall viewers don't matter. Wat matters to Fox and the advertisers is the 18-49 demo rating. And in that category, The Simpsons are still pretty good.
________________________________________________________________

And there's another thing that I sorta forgot last year. The site TvByTheNumbers.com has a list called the "Cancel Index". They compare the 18-49 results of all shows to the overall average of the network and if The Simpsons' result > Fox's result, the show should be safe. If you wanna check it out, go to the second page, you'll find the weekly updated table there somewhere, together with the indexes of the last two years. I update my post on page 2 every Tuesday around 4pm EST. Delays until Wednesday are possible.

And there's another new thing: Disgruntled Goat gave me a helpful advise. This year, I'll update the first post with the new numbers so that you don't have to search the thread for hours to find the results of a certain episode.

And another new thing (yes, I'm finished after this): Ratings of The Simpsons in the rest of the world. We already got the UK covered (thanks to Monty Burns and Bella Drape 'er) and I'll do Germany. If you have access to the TV ratings of your country, feel free to post them here. If you want to see the results in the UK, go to page 2 and scroll down to Monty Burns' regularly updated post or check the thread for new posts. For the German results, check out my post on page 5.

The ratings have been going down since season 19, unless they promote it a lot they will continue to go down. We're going to have the 450th episode this season though, and milestones usually get good ratings.

Haven't even thought about that, but yes, they should. and I bet they could get good numbers out of the Rogen premiere if they really wanted to.

I'd post the Brazil ratings, but they don't release it to the public. All they tell us is the avarage viewers for the season. For season 20 it is 10,400,000. The Simpsons is the number one animated show and the 13th show overall.

If we're sticking to the first page for new episode ratings. My UK version will be here.

Monty Burns can make his UK version in his post.

Basically they'll say the same stuff, but it's just whom updates the ratings first, so I suppose ratings fans will have to check both...sorry.

(Repeats will not be edited into this post, but be part of new posts.)

I hope that the ratings will get better. They need to be promoted more.. .. .. Like make a funny trailer which isn't part of the series or something.

I of course want ratings better to. Every week I would check wikipedia on the newest episode and it would say something like "{This episode} Is the lowest {second, third..} least-viewed episode in the series, with only..." so I don't know if it is entirely reliable. Still, hopefully they improve.

Thanks, SpringlieldFiles! Fox's season started on Wednesday with the premieres of Glee and Dance, so now would be the perfect time to promote it, since people are actually going to watch TV again.
And I hope that King of the Hill's finale does well this Sunday. it's a shame how Fox treats that show. It has been around for a long time, 13 years is a heck of a lot for a scripted show, but Fox just throws it away to make room for Seth.

your welcome ,and I agree with, I hope they start advertising it a lot

The Simpsons doesn't get much promotion in the UK either. Channel 4 starts Season 16 tomorrow and I haven't seen a single mention of it.

Sky rarely mention new episodes either. Occasionally after an episode they'll say "a new episode this weekend" but never on other shows.

Repeats for the UK - August 31 to September 6.
Channel 4's OFF Audience numbers are going up, but compared to other shows, they're falling down in rank. FG is going down in rank and audience figures :P, but sadly so is Sky 1's OFF.

I just lost all faith in humanity.

Well, it's not a race IMO. Each show should be running for their own score, and "The Simpsons" still got a decent amount of viewers. People were bound to watch "The Cleveland Show" since it's been hyped up for over a year now, but I'm sure next week the ratings will be way lower. Family Guy's viewers were probably just the "average amount of fans" + a trickle down effect from Cleveland viewers. You also have to remember that "the multiverse episode" is a format bender, and the fact that "Family Guy" was recognized at the emmys is probably why there was such a sudden increase in their score. I could be wrong though. My prediction is that next week ratings will be lower, or more even with each other.

Thanks for doing the ratings today, I was in Paris for the weekend...

Well, this sucks. Not only did TS lose 1 million viewers compared to last season's opener, but they lost against Cleveland, FG and American Dad? What the fuck?

I'm sure like lionelhutz123 said things will calm down for FG and Cleveland.

Although surprised at AD.
