A noteworthy step down. Only the holdovers consistently stack up to the previous seasons, though in fairness they do make a good portion of the season. Nevertheless, this is a legitimately funnier and more well-written season than any after it.

doesn't seem quite as bad as i remembered, but it still is the first 'weak' season of the show imo

This season had more weaker episodes for me on rewatch. It's still pretty good stuff, though.

Overall, a good, not great season. It's closer to classic than post-classic, in my opinion, but very few episodes actually stand out.
 
The City Of New York Vs Homer Simpson: B+
Overrated. Funny episode but nowhere near the best of the show.
The Principal And The Pauper: C-
Contiunity did not bother me as much as this episode wasent that funny.
Lisas Sax: A
Great flashback episode. Both emotional and hilarious at the same time.
Treehouse Of Horror VIII: B
Homega Man and Fly Vs Fly is great but the last segment is a bit dull.
The Cartridge Family: A
Hilarious episode and great satire.
Bart Star: A-
Homer might be a jerk but this is one of those times it works.
The Two Mrs Nasahasa:C+

Lisa might overreact but she didint irritate me that much plus the satire is good.

Some good moments, some moments that could had been better.

The town might act mean-spirited but i dont mind it that much plus i like the nice christmas sprit it has.

Paint Your Wagon is great but the rest of the episode.....

Boring episode plus it basically introduces the Captain Wacky and Straight Man Bart going on wacky adventure.

Hilarious episode.

Weird ending and the subplot could also have been better but the rest was pretty great.

Pretty funny but a bit dull and forgettable at times.

The Simpsons gene thing was weird but other than that great episode.

This might be the first apparence of "weird Ralph" but its still a extremely funny episode.

The third act is dumb but i really enjoyed the first two acts.

The best episodes are still classic-era stuff, the worst is like a preview of things to come. Worse than what came before (expect from maybe season 1) better than what came after.

Except for "All Singing, All Dancing", I thought every episode was great, two of them even some of the best episodes of the series (The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson and The Joy Of Sect)
