Smart! She’d have been a good addition to the list as her first name (Elizabeth) isn’t too well known either. I don’t think the original poster of this thread is still on the forum anymore though so it’s too late to add Hoover to the list.

Oh by the way I just realized that The Simpsons and Futurama both have crazy mad scientist characters whose names start with “Professor”, who wear very thick glasses and don’t have eyes. That’s odd.
 
The they-don't-have-eyes thing is an unusual design choice...

You probably are aware that Frink is this guy;
(Has some bullying in it and sounds the most like Frink from all clips I've seen.)

And I know Farnsworth is named after Philo Farnsworth, but maybe there's a more concrete sci-fi character design they're referencing there?
Similar to how Skinner is obviously named for B. F. Skinner but he's supposed to be a parody of the evil(?) Breakfast Club principal:

Skinner, Chalmers, Quimby, Wiggum, Lovejoy, and Farnsworth to name a few...maybe even Smithers and Burns as well! Oh, perhaps just all of them! Lol.

I had to google it but turns out John A. Zoidberg is indeed canon. IMO he doesn't seem like a John at all. Maybe more like a Curly? Woopwoopwoopwoopwoopwoop...
