WHY'D THEY GO WITH PURPLE SQUISHEE OF ALL THINGS!?!?! And not like, Classic Donut Pink / Sprinkles?!
Or Nuclear Waste Green?!?
They're gonna do a Squishee flavor but they're too afraid to put Apu on it? C'mon...I know his very existence is contentious, but if that's how they felt, they shoudln't have made a 7/11 Kwik-E-Mart reference.
I think it's a shame to have a The Simpsons product without any characters on it. Like, just a logo? What's even the point of it then?
I'm not usually so negative about Simpsons merch but this one is really grinding my gears. They spent all this money and didn't even put a single character on it, C'mon now.
checking out
their instagram, the simpson family is apparently featured on the packaging, although still not on either of the products themselves:

the art on the exterior packaging is rather commonplace (that homer and bart in particular are used on the jakks pacific merchandise), but the interior artwork is markedly less common. I don't recall seeing it on anything before, but putting it through reverse image search does show that it's been used for merchandising before.
personally, the lack of characters on the actual products doesn't bother Me that much, but I get the complaint. it's aesthetically appealing (assuming you like bright-colored minimalism), but admittedly not very simpsons-like.
I definitely agree with you that the choice of toothpaste theme is odd. squishees are iconic, but not so much so that I see the color purple and think "wow! a squishee!" especially since they've come in other colors before (damn, even the famous all-syrup squishee from "boy-scoutz" was green, not purple).
yellow is the obvious pick for the main color scheme, but purple is nowhere near the second leading simpsons color. when I think about that, I'd say either pink or blue, most obviously because of the pink donut and blue sky in the opening, but also because those colors were frequently used in the early years of the show.
for instance, the family's house is predominantly pink, and a lot of the cast wears pink clothing (E.G. ned, krusty, milhouse, carl, the lovejoys, etc.). as for blue, they had a fondness for using that as characters' hair color early on, as well (E.G. marge, burns, wiggum, the van houtens).
meanwhile, there's not a lot of purple on the show. there's the family's TV and some character designs (E.G. smithers' bowtie, skinner's dress shirt), but it's nowhere near as common as the aforementioned colors are. green isn't that common either, but at least green goo is a prominent feature of springfield's ecosystem.
speaking of goo, I'm shocked no one has mentioned how repulsive this toothpaste's consistency is. why's it so slimy? every toothpaste I've used or seen anyone else use looks something like this:

meanwhile, this toothpaste is translucent, runny, and looks much more like part of a messy PB&J than something I'd want to spread around My mouth for two minutes straight.
also,
it's $72?? $59 for just the
toothbrush and $13 for just the
toothpaste (no sale when bundled? those tend to be cheaper). that's highway robbery, IMO; both toothbrushes and toothpaste alone cost $1-3, so that's up to 5,900% of the average price for these things. I get this looks to be a "luxury" brand, but it's dental care FFS. imagine if there was a "luxury" brand of toilet paper that charged you $300 for it, just because they gave it a "stylish" design.
for comparison, you can get a
sonic-themed toothbrush for $5 AND
one that has literally games on it for $25. like I said, I don't believe the concept of a yellow simpsons toothbrush is inherently bad, but it's honestly ostentatious at best and outright scummy at worst to charge this much for such a simple product, especially since both toothbrushes and toothpaste have to be replaced after just a few months.
