Truly one of the best writers on the show (at least in the classic era). The quirkiness, absurdity and cleverness he usually gave to his scripts was great, even when the episodes weren't too good they were usually positives.
I'm thinking 'Homer At The Bat' remains my favorite of his scripts (if I could choose just one). It remains as well-written, memorable & hilarious as it was when I first saw it (and I admire how he made a sports-themed episode work so well even for non-sports fans).
Other favorites include 'Bart The General' (yes, a season 1 episode), 'Bart The Murderer', 'Homer The Great', 'Bart's Comet', 'Homie The Clown', 'The Day The Violence Died', 'Homer Vs. The Eighteenth Amendment', 'Homer's Enemy' & 'I Am Furious Yellow'.
