I would like to hear some people's thoughs: Which musical number is the best one you have seen on the show?

I personally enjoy "Spring in Springfield" Best because it gets nearly the entire cast in and the song is really catchy.

Anybody?

There've been so many great musical numbers, that it's almost impossible to choose one. I'd go with either the "Monorail" song, "Spring in Springfield," or "Who needs the Kwik-E-Mart?"

Songs from The Planet of the Apes musical were the funniest. "I hate every ape I see, from chimpan-A to chimpan-Z." :)

The monorail song, with the Planet of the Apes musical coming in a close second.

"Goodbye my Coney Island Girl," even though it's not really a musical.

Of course, let's not forget Homer's "It was a very good beer" and Sheryl Bobbins' "Cut every corner" and "Boozehound."

I never realized how many great musical numbers were in the show.
Although it's probably not the best, I still consider it to be the funniest (hence my username): Planet of the Apes

Dr. Zaius and Scorpio are my favourite Simpsons songs of all time. After that, it's Lisa and Bleeding Gums' Jazz Man tied with New Orleans (in fact, the entire A Streetcar Named Desire musical is brilliant).

I love the New Orleans song. Such a great parody of Broadway. And Children of the Future! Pure hilarity!

Who can forget "We Do"?

I also like a lot of the ones already mentioned...

Other good but forgotten songs:
The Mediocre Presidents
The Sound of Grandpa
Tito Puente's "Revenge"
Just Don't Look
I'm An Amendment To Be
The Fritz Schnackenpfefferhausen Bratwurst song
The Garbage Man Can
Osaka Seafood Concern
Land of the Jockeys (the episode is very meh, but I just love this song)

Yeah. That's all I can think of at the moment.

My favorites are definitely the Monorail song and the HMS Pinafore songs from Cape Feare. And while I'm not sure this counts, I really like the Canyonero jingle.

God, how can I pick? These have been listed, but I'll put them in my order.

1. Planet of the Apes song
2. Schoolhouse Rock song
3. Stonecutter's drinking song
4. March Til We Drop protest song
5. Tito Puente's revenge

definately "We Do."

Who controls the British crown? Who keeps the Metric system down?
We Doooooo, We Doooooo.
Who leaves Atlantis off the maps? Who keeps the Martians under wraps?
We Doooooo, We Doooooo.
Who holds back the Electric Car? Who made Steve Guttenberg, a star?
We Doooooo, We Doooooo.
Who robs cave-fish of their sight? Who rigs every Oscar night?
We Doooooo, We Doooooo!

From "All Singing, All Dancing", the song from "Paint Your Wagon" ...

"We're gonna paint this wagon, gonna paint it fine,
Gonna use oil-based paint, cause the wood is Pi-iiiine"

Funny, funny!
