Homer and Ned's Hail Mary Pass (S16E8). Act 3. The episode is super-bowl related, and aired after Super Bowl 2005

How about this joke.

In "You Only Move Twice", Hank Scorpio asks Homer if France or Italy is his least favorite country. Homers replies France and Hank goes "Nobody ever says Italy".

Is the joke at the expense of France or that Italy is awesome?

I think it's both.

In she of little faith, why does lisa shout down bart's suggestion of methodist seemingly out of nowhere? Any thoughts behind this?

could you guys recommend me some good 'regular' modern simpsons episodes? by regular, i mean episodes that take on a "comedy first, drama/plot second" role, episodes that don't parody existing properties, episodes that don't seek to bend the format, you get the point.

@Altairia This is a subjective opinion - one can dislike that ep the other person loves. But interesting question - standalone non-format bender, non-parodies (I'm not sure here, so won't take).🤔 Anyway, my personal recommendation list (by "modern Simpsons episode" I always take just 3 last seasons)

The Dad-Feelings Limithed - Good reopening of Comic Book Guy character. That's all.
Panic on the Streets of Springfield - good characterization of teenage Lisa if she would exist. And funny in-built story of Homer. Visual is good too.
Boyz N the Highlands - strong travel episode with interesting Martin's reveal. Plus great subplot. The transmissions between stories also done well.
My Octopus and a Teacher - just must-watch. Emotions of different kind - silly, funny, empathy.
Marge the Meanie - probably the best Jean-ran episode in recent years (again, imho). Funny Bart-Marge connection, and just lovely Homer's problem of searching that connection with other kids.
Step Brother from the same Planet - Very nice story about Homer-Grampa relationships seeing outside. Plus Bobs-Burger-ish good subplot.
Fan-ily Feud - lovely family story with really funny and emotional songs. The possible problem - it is a musical, but if you have no problems with them, so welcome.

I think the joke is that she is more emphatically opposed to something considered relatively benign than she is to eating a human heart, similar to homer choosing crab juice over mountain dew

when does homer choose crab juice over mountain dew?

So, I'm not for sure, but I heard that in "You only move twice" the reason that Homer gets to own the Denver Broncos and is not happy is because a lot of the writers were into gambling on football and the Broncos often did not cover the spread in spite of being a good, or great team at the time (they won the Super Bowls in 98 and 99 and were quite good in the 80's and 90's) and thus from a gambling perspective were not good. Is this true? Yes, the Dallas Cowboys were long considered "America's team" and for sure owning them is a lot more prestigious than owning any other NFL team but the Broncos were a good team at the time (even if they often failed in the Super Bowl until the late 90's) they weren't like the Cardinals who were made fun of in later seasons, or the Kansas City Royals, who are a usually bad baseball team.
So is that why Denver got made fun of?

Its probably just funny and Methodists are the largest protestant church denomination behind baptists. So they kind of are popular or were, and Lisa might not like that. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

I get the feeling a lot of people don't like France and see them as cheese eating surrender monkeys. Also, Italy just seems to be loved more and maybe it has to do with lots of Italian Immigrants in America who only came in the last century or so, while most of the French population has been in places like Quebec and Louisiana forever.

Idk if this is a good place but WHY do people hate 9-12 so much? I mean I agree with quality dip, and I get some don’t like homer but is that it? I like his wackiness and he’s not a jerk ass here to me. People crap on it a lot here.

cause people have differing opinions

Ah, I see! That's not a show I have any knowledge of, but I always assumed that had to be a reference to something.

Now I suppose the question is why there's a reference to that old sitcom there, but I guess there's not really an answer to that beyond just "because".

Hello! I’m tryna document every time Skinner has a Vietnam flashback, and I feel like there’s one somewhere between seasons 16-25, where he’s performing a song on stage because one of the band members was absent (it was entertainment for his troop or something,,?) It’s been 3 years since I think I’ve watched that, and I’m not sure if it’s a fever dream or actually real lol. Anyone remember this?

Should be an easy question: in what episode after someone had been interviewed for the news, Kent Brokman commented "yeah, yeah, 9/11 madness"? This is from seasons 21-25, I believe.

So there's been one thing I've been thinking about forever but never could remember where it's from. It's definitely a HD episode. It's a moment where Bart and Milhouse are cutting swears out of the bible and absolutely certain I didn't just imagine it. It was a nice lil' callback to Bart trying to find excuses to get away with swearing.
