5. foo fighters (feeling torn between the two. omg imagine an alternate timeline where foo fighters kept on making shoegaze-tinged songs like floaty)
6. walrus (absolutely massive, pummeling piece of japanese shoegaze. softcult is some pretty decent shoegaze)
7. susumu hirasawa (2 very different vibes in this match)
8. converge (one of the best mathcore bands ever. liked both songs quite a bit)

1. Jackie Shane - Any Other Way (Anything New is passable at best, Any Other Way was really nice to listen to)
2. Glassjaw - Siberian Kiss (Friday Night is pretty good, but the metal side of my brain wins this time)
3. Moonriders - Don't Trust Anyone Over 30 (Strange advice, but okay)
4. Isiliel – 光明生死 (Koumyou Kishi) (Not sure if intentional, but both songs take place in a black forest)
5. Foo Fighters - Floaty (Almost every single track from this album is a classic)
6. Walrus – Hikaki no kakera (The music video for Perfect Blue is very gross, the song itself is fine though)
7. Jerry Butler - Find Another Girl (You can always expect good work from a butler)
8. Converge - Homewrecker (I prefer them over Converse)

1- Jackie Shane - now that's some nice soul, as soon as i first heard those opening horns i knew this was the winner. Bibio was nice and breezy tho
2- Glassjaw - wow this ones busy. Very hyperactive hardcore, i can see the attraction, loving the melodic nu-metalesque vocals. Sobs is wavvvy AF. love the bubblegum pop sound here, two very likeable tunes. Sobs is an immediate banger so gets the nod
3- Loud Minority - not really my thing was certainly pretty Esoteric, good for people who want to listen to 5 things at once. Moonriders coming out with some sage advice here, and a funky little number too. Those drums...
4- Mercury Rev - sounded a bit Porcupine Tree in places, was a pleasant listen. Isiliel got me with that opening, then kinda lost me once the vocals came in - not bad but not quite my thing.
5- Action Patrol - i looked at the runtime and assumed this would be brutal af hardcore lol. I like the lyrics a lot, the manic vocals work well with the hi energy rhythm section. Foo Fighters - never been a fan of these guys and never will. This one is pre good tho ngl, dare I say it won me over in the end, maybe if this was their typical sound I'd stick with them.
6- Walrus - nice and dreamy, liking the lo-fi style here. Softcult, wow loving those rich opening chords, got a deep and velvety kind sound. Solid winner here.
7- Susumu Hirasawa - had a kind of grandiose opening which intrigued me, didn't really get much out of it once it settled into it's rhythm. Jerry Butler - i'm a sucker for this kind of early 60s soul.
8- Converge, quite a matchup this one. Tried to get into converge once but I just can't get past the vocals. This is probably one of their more melodic ones tho tbf. KEN Mode, this is more my kind of hardcore - got a bit more of a groove and personality. Some nice jagged and noisy guitars and intense wails, absolute chaos.
