Welcome to NHC's 2018 winter music showdown! You will have the usual three days to vote for each round. Post your choices in this thread once you've listened to the songs. Everyone is welcome to participate in voting, even if they don't have tracks in. We have 64 total songs, and round 1 will consist of four parts.

1. Psyche Origami - Commercial Property (that other song is terrible, Psyche is okay but kinda drains me)
2. Fredo Santana – 2 Cups feat Z-Ro (both are amazing, but Call Me Names ran into a freight train here)
3. Yung Bae – Rainbows (same as the above)
4. Village People – Fire Island (easy match, this is too damn good)
5. Great Good Fine OK - Already Love (adore both but I gotta make the hard decision)
6. Tove Styrke – Say My Name (whoever nominated this song, you have all my love :heart:)
7. Paradise Lunch - Guns 'n Roses (this sounds like Coconut Mall from Mario Kart and I love it. Both of these should be advancing though)
8. Public Service Broadcasting - They Gave Me a Lamp (Little Jackie is okay, this one is sweet so it gets my vote)

1. Pysche Origami

Yeah, that Type O Negative song was not a very good song. The vocals were borderline unintelligible. The other song is okay.

2. Fredo Santana

The first song was chill. The second song, well, not much happened. It was pleasant though.

3. Meat Puppets

A good match up. "Rainbows" is a good song even if not much happens in it. Dug the second song a lot.

4. Village People

Minamina Goodsong was a pretty dated corny rap song with not that good of a beat. Village People was pretty fun though for being like 6 minutes.

5. Duke Jordan

Great Good Fine OK is an average song. The vocals are not so great. Duke Jordan is not especially memorable, but I think average jazz can be more interesting than first the average song.

6. Tove Styrke

I liked Say My Name, pretty catchy song even if the noisier moments grated on me. The other song was neat but not something you could see yourself listening to a lot.

7. Paradise Lunch

Close match. Paradise Lunch was a neat instrumental tune with lots of good jazzy elements, but I also thought the other song kept my attention well for being so long. Lots of interesting twists and turns. So I coin flip.

8. Public Service Broadcasting

Yeah, that little jackie song was not so interesting. Pretty standard forgotten pop song of the 2000s where nothing matters except the chorus. Public Service Broadcasting isn't outstanding but it was at least interesting.

I like Type O, but this track isn't a favourite of mine. Going for the silly fun new listen.

2. Fredo Santana – 2 Cups feat Z-Ro
Love me some Joan Armatrading (that voice), but I'm going for the new to me tune. Been meaning to get around to hearing Fredo Santana anyway, and this song packs a punch.

3. Yung Bae – Rainbows
Whirlpool is a solid alt rock track, and I probably would have voted for it if it were against something else. Rainbows is a jam.

4. Minamina Goodsong – Buttersauce
Buttersauce was a lot of fun, and even though I enjoyed Fire Island it was too long for what it was.

5. Duke Jordan – Split Quick
Already Love is a solid pop tune, nice and catchy, but it felt a little long for such a standard length song. Split Quick is a fab jazz song and gets my vote.

6. Khun Narin – Lai Sing
Love both Tove Styrke and Khun Narin, so I am bummed in advance of the results of this match. Giving a bump to Khun Narin.

7. Miracle Musical - Dream Sweet in Sea Major
I liked the other track, but I loooved this.

8. Public Service Broadcasting - They Gave Me a Lamp
I always forget how much I like PSB until I am listening to them. I enjoyed Little Jackie, just not as much.

2.Fredo Santana – 2 Cups feat Z-Ro (I reeeeally like the other song. Brings me back to the music my mom would sometimes play in the car which i enjoyed you know Tracy Chapman, Melissa Ethridge etc. but it's Fredo)

3.Meat Puppets - Whirlpool (other song is okay. Gotta give it up for the Meat Puppets. Not my fav era but still great)

4.Village People – Fire Island (It's definitely too long but it benefits from playing one of the weaker songs in the round)

5.Duke Jordan – Split Quick (The other song has decent production but it's honestly pretty bad)

6.Khun Narin – Lai Sing (This rips. the other song is pretty good. Probably the hardest match of the round)

7. Miracle Musical - Dream Sweet in Sea Major (The other song is a little bit much. This is nice)

8.Little Jackie - The World Should Revolve Around Me (both are bad)

1. Psyche Origami - Commercial Property (The first song was decent, but this is a very clear winner. Huge bonus points for the rapper sounding like Will Smith)
2. Fredo Santana - 2 Cups (Both songs are equally fine, this one left more of an impact though)
3. Meat Puppets - Whirlpool (The first one went away as quickly as it started, Whirlpool is not a masterpiece but more memorable)
4. Village People - Fire Island (I love this time for rap, but Buttersauce was hugely underwhelming)
5. Duke Jordan - Split Quick (The jazz wins no contest, the first song is very generic pop)
6. Tove Styrke - Say My Name (Eeny, meeny, miny, moe...)
7. Miracle Musical - Dream Sweet In Sea Major (One of the better rounds. I usually can't stand experimental music, but this got more interesting as it went on.)
8. Little Jackie - The World Should Revolve Around Me (What the hell was that other song! This was good though.)
