  • Hey, I know this is incredibly late but yeah, Luminous Orange is awesome! One of my favorites for sure...Japan has some really great "shoegaze" bands in general.
I just learned that Think Fellers Union are playing/reuniting at ATP next week.......

though it's probably not a practical thing, ATP tickets in the week before. huh. still it's pretty cool.

as much as i do love those songs i think the songs gallo ended up going with were absolutely perfect for the film. have you heard anything from josh klinghoffer's band? only 3 studio songs out and 4 live shows and theyre so so great

his voice, apart from john's, is my favourite thing ever

those vids are so rad. do you collect his live shit too? ive got all the shows hes ever played that have surfaced. theres this show from 1994 where he plays 4 songs and he does a version of beach arab and its mindblowing

in 1997 he was deep into nirvana and the influence shows. this is probably my favourite from that era http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwJ95Br_sB4

also this is essential watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpiV2Hl5h1k from when they opened for blonde redhead and walls was pretty much improvised right there and then. a friend of mine filmed that. i would kill to have been at that show

i love everything hes done, ever. but when it comes to shadows i think those songs are better in their demo format which he put out online. i seem to recall him once saying that he and josh also thought the demos were better. in the long run though smiles and niandra are definitely my favourites, the songs on smiles which were clearly recorded later on like 'estress' are probably the rawest tunes ever made and i really don't think anyone musician has ever come as close to pure expression the way he did during that time. so inspiring. but that whole era of his is fascinating and his paintings from then are also rad

i always go thru phases with music, like i never hate something i used to love, but i often stop listening to something for a while... but frusciante has always stuck with me

right now inside of emptiness is the fucking shit to me. his vocals are out of this world
    B
man im so glad you board here. now im not the only one who namedrops frusciante frequently
