TV Themes Showdown II

1. Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
2. Pretty Piggies
3. Dave the Barbarian
4. Fanboy and Chum Chum
5. I Dream of Jeannie
6. Mary Tyler Moore
7. Wheel of Fortune
8. Tenchi Muyo!

1) Broen II - yea i'm the idiot who submitted this. works a lot better within the context of the series than just on a random listen, haunting and bleak, just like the show. Otherwise I guess it just sounds like a miserable load of warbling I'd imagine. Darkplace is a GOAT comedy show and one of the best standalone seasons of tv ever. Not a huge fan of the theme though, but a good parody of 80s synth cheese.
2) Koala Brothers - Simple, effective and fun. Plus I know we're only judging theme song/music but love the animation style and everything else here too. Pretty Piggies was pretty amusing, and uh..catchy i guess! not gonna allow myself to get that stuck in my head tho
3) Dave The Barbarian - first rule for a kids tv show - nail the theme. This does it, heroic and dramatic while still retaining humour. Fugget about it? Uhhhhh what even if this show lol?
4) Fanboy Chum Chum - Not a fan of this matchup, also both these shows look visually HORRIBLE, not that we're judging that but jeeez. Also read it as femboy cum cum and wondered how chris got a nomination. I guess fanboy wins mainly because it actually seems to have a typical form to it, Sheen goes all over the place and I'm not even sure what it's trying to be
5) I dream of Jeannie - this wins before I even heard the 2nd one. Iconic, simple and doesn't try to be everything at once like round 4 themes did. The Munsters is cool though, nice bit of surf-rock. Playful and slightly mischievous. Would be a winner in any other round.
6) Mary Tyler Moore Show - both pretty good retro themes. MTM wins as it has a bit more drive and less schmaltz.
7) Wheel of Fortune Theme Tune - man this brought back some memories. Back before tivo and netflix and shit people actually had to resort to watching this rubbish. Theme is cheesy and cheap but lovable. The Office is great and all, but never felt it befitted the show, seems almost cheersque but slightly more downbeat. Prefer the closing theme with the vocals by miles.
8) Kyousougiga Opening - fell in love with this almost instantly. You can always count on anime shows for good themes and this one is so good. I think I listening to the right Tenchi Muyo theme on ytube but had to look for it as the link wasn't unavailable in my country. It's ok I guess, not really keen.

4. As Told By Ginger
5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
6. Princess Jellyfish
7. ChuckleVision
8. Flying Rhino Junior High

1. Utopia - Theme Song (A utopian dream)
2. Avenger Penguins - Intro Theme (Jungle Junction is way better than it has any right to be for a Disney Jr. intro, but Avenger Penguins is such goddamn fun)
3. Mission Impossible intro (Super iconic! A real joy both to listen and watch. But Rockford Files is pretty cool too.)
4. The World Of Tosh Intro (One of the most nostalgic intros ever for me)
5. Iron-Man: The Animated Series Intro 2 (This was a tough choice. I'm fine with either of them winning)
6. Princess Jellyfish Opening (I'm a SpongeBob fan, you expect me not to root for the jellyfish?)
7. The Young Ones - Intro (This is not a bias vote, but my mom loved this show when she grew up)
8. Flying Rhino Junior High - Intro (Despite the incredibly absurd premise this is a pretty enjoyable theme song. Danger Mouse is all right, but I don't want to catch any STDs)

1. Tatami Galaxy (Utopia wasn't bad, but this feels like more of a song.)
2. Avenger Penguins (The other one's not bad either.)
3. Mission Impossible (Rockford Files one isn't bad, but it's can't compete with Mission Impossible.
4. The World of Tosh
5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Iron Man theme was cool too, but JoJo's was the better theme overall. Coming from a non-weeb.)
6. Princess Jellyfish (Other one didn't do much for me, so this one.)
7. Chucklevision (Young Ones was good too, but Chucklevision was more catchy.)
8. Flying Rhino Junior High (Oh man, I haven't seen this show since I was a kid. Forgot how much of an earworm it was and how well the verses lead into the hook. Danger Mouse is ok I guess, but doesn't leave the same impression.)

1. Utopia
2. Avenger Penguins
3. Mission Impossible
4. As Told By Ginger
5. Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
6. Kaiba
7. The Young Ones
8. Flying Rhino Junior High

1. The Tatami Galaxy
2. Jungle Junction
3. Mission Impossible
4. As Told By Ginger
5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
6. Princess Jellyfish
7. The Young Ones
8. Flying Rhino Junior High

1. The Tatami Galaxy
2. Jungle Junction
3. Mission: Impossible
4. The World of Tosh
5. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
6. Princess Jellyfish
7. The Young Ones
8. Flying Rhino Junior High

1) Utopia - it helps that i loved the show but the extra dub infused dubstepish opening theme is so cool and darkly mysterious, just listening to it makes me feel like i'm back in that world. Tatami Galaxy is actually really good, chill and catchy. Also the credits are visually good looking and creative. Nice synths, it is a close call but Utopia has the advantage of familiarity.
2) Avenger Penguins - this is catchy af. Jungle Junction is pretty good tho
3) Rockford Files - iconic 70s theme, like Mission Impossible too.
4) The World Of Tosh - not big on either tbh
5) Iron-Man - man that was good, got my fist pumping. if we were judging these of visuals, Jo Jo wins the whole damn thing, it's actually a cinematic masterpiece but Iron Man is so good.
6) Princess Jellyfish - wins by default on account of the other one sending me to sleep.
7) Young Ones - it's scientifically proven that the shorter the theme, the better and catchier it sounds. Chucklevision is ironically GOATED but also so damn terrible at the same time. It's catchiness is also kind of its own undoing for me. Maybe if the lyrics expanded upon the theme of the show instead of the constant, manic chorus of the shows title. This is what i would play over earphones to my worst enemy in an attempt to drive them to insanity.
8) Danger Mouse - love the retro themes as they manage to convey drama, humorousness and fun without being patronizing like the manic modern day kids show themes. FRJH wasn't really my thing but wasn't the worst offender at the kind of thing. Had a pretty decent rhyming chorus at least.
