i watched the criterion blu-ray of solaris last night. i was completely floored. i don't if it's the fact that i was younger and had less "refined" tasted the first time i watched it, or if the blu-ray version really is just that much fucking better, but this film hit me on an entirely different level this time.. i need to watch 2001 again asap, because right now i'm about to fold on all of my boring 2001 > solaris arguments. i had disregarded tarkovsky's criticisms that 2001 one was cold as being irrelevant, but after the punch to the gut that solaris delivered, i think he's right that that it's a fault. an intentional one, but a fault nonetheless.
anyway ... i, uh, just wanted to share my thoughts with a fellow tarkovsky lover
