  • OMGGGGGGG I FINALLY FOUND AN HD ANIMATION CEL OF THIS SHOW IM GOING TO CRY FHDGSJSBSJD (not to buy, just to study)
    IMG_2826.jpeg
    Why I'm studying;
I was inspired by @Ardate who creatively recreated an Itchy and Scratchy cel as part of a special gift for a friend!
I already illustrated some mock "animation cels" using real-life supplies as illustrations for my fanfic! I feel like they could be more on-model tho so I want to recreate them! I inked Sharpie/Micron atop clear acetate, and I used acrylic paint to cel shade, then overlaid it atop watercolored backgrounds!
But, I really want to recreate this inking look!!!!! Can anyone advise what they suspect was used as the inking device? Is it a brush, pen, brush pen, marker, etc? I really wanna get that Hanna Barbera look!
DUUUUUUUUDE IM SO HAPPY..... my local diner owner told me to check out this steakhouse and i just went. THE DJ PLAYED A FEW 1970s-1990s SONGS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN AFTER MACARTHUR PARK BY DONNA SUMMER HE JUST PLAYED MY HYPERFIXATION SONG "MAKIN IT". BY DAVID NAUGHTON. I KNOW EVERY SINGLE BEAT AND SYNCOPATION IN THAT 1979 SONG,
INKNOW ITS HISTORY AND "BOOGIE FEVER" ORIGIN, I WORKED ON ITS WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE AND WATVCHED ITS SITCOM AND COLLECTED NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS ABOUT IT...... I KNOW EVERY WORD BY HEART BETTER THAN MY OWN SOUL .... IT WAS IN MY TOP 5 SONGS OF 2024..........

ANYWAY I JUST GAVE ALL THESD MIDDLD AGED PEOPLD A FULLY ARTICULATED HISTORICALLY ACCURATE KARAOKE DANCE PERFORMANCE WHILE WEARING MY FONZIE OUTFIT FJDVJDDJ (one other woman in the entire room knew the song btw)

Sidenote i mm starving i havent eaten all day and im judt trying to enjoy my burger after work but every time the dj plays something befode 1980 i become activated and run to the dance floor (to quote "disco inferno") I Just Can't Stop...
    IMG_0458.jpeg
me when i hear a pre 1980 conga beat

Also a couple guys gavs me their table and offersd me a beer and told me to give them dance lessons. Aw. Also a group of ppl stopped me to say I look like a "young elton john"....even when i am dressed head to toe like fonzie. SIGH it's bc of the 1970s glasses. i need lasik /hj
OH MY GWAAD I am having a great hair day and my hair is ENORMOUS right now YALL Icandigiticandigit LOL!
Also my job is great! I get to unpack frames while listening to Sly Stone and Kool and the Gang. It's a spiritual and meaningful time for me!!!!
    IMG_0370.jpeg
The results came in! This is a graph of everything I watched all of 2025, totaling over 600 hours or 1,500+ pieces of music/media/listening consumption. No social media besides this forum, as you can see.
    IMG_0371.jpeg
Coincidentially, I spent the most amount of time (besides in 2025) in 1976 with a total of 36 hours, followed by 1960 with 23 hours.
I rated everything I watched and indeed my enjoyment of media did decline over time.
    IMG_0372.jpeg
For full data and metrics, click here.

Consider it a portrait of all I learned in 2025.
Any questions, ask away! And feel free to copy the spreadsheet and use for your own purposes.
DID YOU KNOW ANIMAIL CRACKERS ENTERED THE PUBLIC DOMAIN THIS YEAR???

YOU CAN WATCH IT ON ITS WIKIPEDIA PAGE NOW

The Wikipedia article also just recently became a good article, meaning it’s exemplary of some of the site's best work, so there’s a solid article to go along with it!

Hah, pretty surr you're the second person to post ELO to my wall!
First of all, thanks for thinking of me!! :)

This initial bassline sounds lifted from (august 1979):
and Jackson stole it from Heatwave (1976):
The three notes of the strings heard at 2:50 sounds a lot like Van McCoy 1976's "Hustle". Love Van McCoy one of the best composers of all the time.
If you hear the Eastern inspired strings of 0:14 and 2:36, I'm almost sure that was influenced by Indian composer Biddu's incredible 1975 disco album, Western Star in an Eastern Sky.

*hears the triple guitar hit at 3:29*
Sounds like someone heard Bee Gees "You Should Be Dancing" from 1976.

I think this song was one of the first 300 or so songs in my Disco Stu playlist. :) As an aside, I watched the ELO movie Xanadu and it was very jive and not disco, LOL.
*globgogabgalab voice* This is a real treasure trove...
OMG. I have been waiting over a decade to get clean versions of some of these sounds!!!! in such an ideal, easy-to-download collection!
About to mod my iphone so it has silly hanna barbera sounds when i open different apps LOL (which would remind me of scooby doo /dobie gillis, wait till your father gets home, and especially fonz&the happy days gang) :aww:
DIUUUUUDE, I can't express HOW much this intro makes me cringe my face off and LOL.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
    well whAaAaaaaaAaatcha SAY, BABY?????

    *stops singing* WHATS THAT, HOMIE?

    HEY DADDIO.
    lunacy
    lunacy
I find the talking segments in music incredibly endearing. It's always something I find a lot of joy in when listening to new things.
This album has a lot of it and is an absolute gem:
Yay! I just posted the next chapter of The James Dean Story.
As a comedy writer, this is probably the saddest, most painful, most vulnerable stuff I have ever written, so I can barely even read it right now. 🥶
But anyway.....ayyyyyyy whoaaa it's the Fonz!!!
    eKy5dlp.jpeg

Like the previous illustration, Fonzie's pose is an homage to a famous James Dean photo; this time from the movie Giant (1956).
UGH!!! I really want to make a compilation of all the Maynard (AKA Shaggy) gay moments from Dobie Gillis (1959) because there are AT LEAST 15+ in the first two seasons alone. However Idk how to download videos from tubi and it's really hard to screen record because i can't zoom it in all the way on my phone. End rant <3
OMG!!!! You know how Happy Days went from gorgeous wholesome and thoughtful, to trite plain and disgusting in S3???
I think The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (the show that inspired Scooby Doo) is going in the oposite direction!!! :aww: I wathced S1 years ago and it was super offensive and plain, lolol. But I just skipped to S2 and suddenly I almost cried, it was so lovely!!!!! There is no doubt Dobie Gillis inspired Happy Days. And this GETS ME REAAAAL EXCITED AND HOPEFUL, MAN!!!
My other coworker: Heyy, lookin good, hey today you look less 70s, more 50s today

    Me: OMG THANK YOU-

Coworker: You know they had 50s revival in the 70s

    Me: Yea-

Coworker: Like Happy Days, you look like Happy Days

    Me: OH MY GOD

Believe me I thanksd him very much and I let him know how much that meant to me 😭😭😭😭😭
My new coworker, at our Christmas party, after I mention i got 100% Ukrainian on the DNA test: "OMG, what's funny is, You have the most DISTINCTLY Italian vibe, without being Italian"🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    I WAS SO HONORED LOL
(I don't doubt that this has to do with my Fonzarelli obsession)
sorry if this is weird but I had a dream where I had a … social worker? I think? following me around and he put on what in the dream I thought was happy days and all throughout the dream I was thinking “I’ve gotta ask discoskater if this is happy days…”

anyways it was NOT happy days lol. it was supposed to be happy days I think? it was kinda more like boy meets world but with the happy days characters. (richie was the one character I specifically remember from the dream because while the rest of the show was live-action richie was an animated caricature sorta animated like the parappa the rappa games (take that video as an example lol) also I have NEVER seen happy days, I know the pump your blood song or whatever but im surprised my brain remembered richie? it surprised me a lot to see my dream-version of his looks scarily similar to live-action him

anyway js wanted to share cs you and happy days were mentioned yea…. :P

I just had a Happy Days themed dream 2 nights ago too!!!!!! Long story short, I was celebrating New Years and saw Ralph, Fonz, and Richie and they were acting really inaccurate-to-canon and it made me sad :ashamed:But at least I got to say hi and see them!:D

LOL, DiscoSkater confirming it was NOT Happy Days. But that is actually so so amazing that the topic and Richie character appeared in your dream!!!! :aww::aww::aww:
OMG I LOVE HOW RICHIE WAS JN A PARAPPA THE RAPPA TYPE GAME HAHAHAHAHAH

Did he look anything like his cartoon self from the hilariously amazing time travel show ???
    IMG_9995.jpeg

I got to help some people out with some really beautiful projects today, and it's just starting to feel like this is a career that I can really build out!
My (hilarious Italian) boss is super nice to me even when I make mistakes. I am really grateful.

And for lunch, I'm eating leftover shrimp linguini from the Frank Sinatra redtaurant!!!!!!! :D
Me mere month ago: "Omg who would ever watch Fonz and the Happy Days gang, this time travel cartoon is such garbage hahahaha i should put this on in the car and listen to it offhand"

Me now; "UGGGGHHHH THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST CARTOONS EVER MADE OH MY GOD I LOVE THE BACKGROUNDS AND SOUND DESIGN AND ANIMATION!!!!!!!!!! AND I ONLY HAVE A FEW EPISODSS LEFT!!!!! NOOOO!!!! *REWATCHES THE SAME ONE MULTIPLE TIMES AND PAINTS REALLY IN DEPTH CELS FOR FANART*😭😭😭😭💖💖💖
Anybody familiar with my hyperfixations lately knows that I have been committed spending a lot of love, time, and soul - examining the depth of the connection between the tragic character Fonzie and real-life tragic actor James Dean.

This research has culminated into my multimedia art/writing/research, project: The James Dean Story.
I have also dressed, talked, and styled my hair increasingly like Fonzie for the past few months, and I just recieved replica boots yesterday.

Well, today a customer actually told me I reminded her of James Dean SPECIFICALLY, OMG!!!!!!!!!! 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

I told her she doesn't know how much this means to me because that is SPECIFICALLY who I have spent all this time researching and to be randomly told this was just mind blowing 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭I'm so deeply happy she said this.

Since she only saw me waist up, I assume it has to do with the hair which I also style like Jimmy Dean. I have a beauitful canvas print of James Dean from Rebel Without A Cause I bought that is now framed centrally in my house.
Being a 70s fan, have you watched Brady Bunch?

@DiscoSkater79 You're welcome. Yeah Patridge Family has some similarities. I'm not sure, I guess it doesn't matter too much where you start. You could start with the first episode, it's not the best, but it shows how the Brady family got together. But the theme song explains that pretty well already. Season 1 has more of a 60s feeling. Seasons 4 and 5 feel the most 70s, especially S5. There's not much continuity, the episodes are self contained. S3 & S4 are probably the best imo, so maybe you could start with an episode there. Up to you

Heyyyy sounds good! Thanks for the help! I'll probably start with a rando from S5 and go from there. Much appreciated!

@DiscoSkater79 Cool, no problem! Yeah, S5 feels the most 70's, so you might like an episode from there
OMG, just randomly watched the 1st, 2nd, and 14th episode of Johnny Bravo, and literally ALL of them have a prominent gay joke with the titular character. Plus the hilarious spot-on Elvis voice, and Elvis music,...god this show is great, LOL. :D
Hey guys, I would appreciate some support :(
I've been working 9 hour days, and 49 hour weeks.
Well, I got sick, badly so. I still was expected to come in to my 2nd job.

My best friend told me I should probably quit my second job.
I just texted my boss letting her know I am so tired and have a fever and just cannot catch up with everything anymore...

I'm so scared to stand up for myself, man. I generally just do everything for others and let everyone use me and walk all over me. But now I had to be a man and say, "I CANNOT DO THIS!" and it was scary as hell. I feel scared. GAH!
Any words of support would be greatly appreciated.
Listen to this album and it will change your perspective on music

Hey thanks for sharing. My opinions in case you want to know!
Ok, so I tried it, but I didn't enjoy the unfinished feeling of the album, and the fact that it had so many duplicates of the same song as opposed to being designed like a typical album. It feels like a work in progress or process piece, similar to the way The Beatles have session albums or the way social media works today (showing the work in progress, rather than the finished art) ....Whereas I prefer to listen to complete pieces that are 100% crafted and done , like operas or musicals or stuff that is completely produced.
I listened to Smiley Smile instead and I prefer it, though, but I don't necessarily think it is resonating with me meaning wise.
The 1967 albums that more resonate with me include those by Strawberry Alarm Clock and The 5th Dimension and The Beatles and Franki Valli and the Walt Wanderley Trio! And of course the gorgeous and griot-inspired Hair Musical!
    Brian is Awesome

I have a question for you: What was your opinion on the song “Surf’s Up”? I would say that is The Beach Boys equivalent to “A Day in the Life” and it’s truly a masterpiece
    DiscoSkater79
    DiscoSkater79
Thanks for bringing the song to my attention!
I ADORE the high note on "domino", that's so unique to their musical style and practically a superpower to go that high. The tempo variation is gorgeous. This sounds like it inspired "Bohemian Rhapsody" and, decades later, Tally Hall. Thanks for pointing that one out specifically, I like that specific song.
After I listened to the original recording on Smile Sessions, I listened to the version on the Surf's Up album. That version has more prominent attention on the instruemtns including the piano / ticking clock style drums / and bells, but it sadly shows off the vocals less. Still, it's nice to hear the piano get groovy around 3:00.
Interestingly, the song never explodes energetically the way "Day in the Life" or "Bohemian Rhapsody" does. It seems calmer and chiller throughout as it takes us through a lot of emotions.
    I wish it was longer!
Thanks for asking my opinion! :)
Omg i havent listendd to disco in so long 1979 FEELS SO FRESH AND FUTURISITC AGAIN :aww: :aww:
Three moments today where i immediately thought of one of my favorite disco songs for the situation and played it, lol.
Me: *while backing my car of the chaotic whole foods parking lot*.I'm coming.... out.
Me: *fuming with anger at CVS* RRRRAAAAH
Me: *while excited driving to food* BOOGIEOOGIE UH HUH!
After my 9 hour shift at work, i canot overstate how much it has helped me thru my horrific withdrawal fiasco to even listen to 30 minutes of good music. Thank God after 2 weeks of increasing nausea and dizziness and insatiable hunger, I'll finally have my T tomorrow!!!!!!! GOD BLESS.
