Awesome! I am so happy you have come around on Solaris. I don't think it makes 2001 any less of a film to be honest, and I am not sure being 'cold' is a fault in terms of 2001. Though, I can't wait to hear your arguments (bump the Tarkovsky thread?) I really love both films and can talk about them all day. Hope you are doing well...
Interesting. I’ll have to check that out. I can definitely see turning a failed short story or any short story into a novel. It probably happens quite a bit I’d imagine. It isn’t easy to think in “novel sized” ideas. Expanding a smaller idea seems much less daunting to me.
It's kind of a strange thing that certain writers have become so canonized that even the crap they probably wanted no one to ever see has found its way to the publishing house. I'm gonna destroy all my worst writing just in case I ever become famous after I die.

oh i meant nick sobotka. he's the only one. obviously you've seen the bunny/namond cameo but there's another cameo in the series finale and it's pretty easy to guess who (dudes MIA for the rest of season five)
oh and breaking bad
the last two episodes are a work of art
and all of the little cameos (avon, surregay, n sobotka, etc) are cool
just got back from the best meetup/festival ever pretty much but i'm glad you dug season four.
just know that while season five has great closure towards the end, its definitely the most far fetched
