Al Jean once insinuated that he and many of the Simpsons writers would rather have Flanders as a neighbor than Homer, but who would you all choose? Both of them have positive and negative qualities. Still, in the long run I would choose Ned Flanders if I had to have either one of them as a neighbor. Don't get me wrong. I don't like how Flanders can sometimes be pushy about his beliefs. I don't like that he is close-minded to different religions and that he hates science. All those attributes of Flanders are very bothersome to me. But, in the long run, despite his flaws, Flanders is a very kind and caring man. I wouldn't have to worry about him having loud parties next door, or stealing my stuff, or borrowing it and never giving it back. If I needed a hand, I could count on Flanders to help me out, whereas I couldn't depend on Homer. So, out of the two, who would you choose for a neighbor and why?
